Team information

PFC Akademik Sofia and OFC Sliven 2000 were directly relegated after finishing in the bottom two places in the previous season. Akademik were relegated after a year in A PFG and Sliven ended a three-year tenure. FC Pirin Blagoevgrad were excluded from A PFG due to financial difficulties, and the club even did not received a license for B PFG, that is why they will play in V AFG.

The relegated teams were replaced by Botev Vratsa, champions of the West B PFG and Ludogorets Razgrad, champions of the East B PFG. Botev Vratsa returned to the A PFG after twenty-two years, and Ludogorets entered A PFG for their first time in history. The third new team in A PFG is Svetkavitsa. They had won the final play-off against Etar Veliko Tarnovo.

The previous season Vidima-Rakovski finished 14th in A PFG which meant that they had to play a final play-off with the winner of the B PFG play-offs - Chernomorets Pomorie. Chernomorets Pomorie won with 3-0 but they didn't received licence for A PFG and Vidima-Rakovski remained in A PFG. That's why it was played a new play-off between the 4th in East B PFG (Svetkavitsa) and the 3rd in West B PFG (Etar Veliko Tarnovo). Svetkavitsa won with 3-1 and became the third new team in A PFG for the next season.
